Micropiles

Micropiles are deep foundation elements with a small diameter of up to 300 mm, through which loads from the superstructure are transferred into deeper, load-bearing soil layers by means of skin friction.

Micropiles can absorb tensile, compressive and alternating loads. Typical applications include the construction of new foundations as well as the underpinning and strengthening of existing structures, such as buildings, bridges, retaining walls and towers, in addition to uplift protection for structures exposed to groundwater.
